Favourite spots for a smoothie in Bermuda
Bermudians love their smoothies. These days they’re a diet staple, perfect for breakfast or lunch on the run or with friends. They’re also a great pre- or post-workout snack. If you enjoy a frosty, cold, delicious and nutritious smoothie, here are a few local spots in Hamilton where you can get your sip on.
The Duchess Café and Gelateria at the Hamilton Princess isn’t just the hottest new coffee shop—it also has a delicious smoothie menu. Step on up to the friendly counter staff and order what you like—or customize an existing option. The menu has something for everyone. Whether you like banana protein shakes, peanut butter protein smoothies, or even ones bursting with fruit or veggies, they are all blended to perfection. Take a seat at this trendy, sophisticated stop and enjoy your smoothie in style. Open from 7am-3pm daily, The Duchess Cafe is a great place to get your fix.
Not too far from the Hamilton Princess is another smoothy haven, Miles Market. Make your way to the smoothie counter for a healthy drinkable meal or snack. Their special Nutrifit smoothie menu contains whole fresh ingredients for Bermudians who value clean eating. Enjoy The Green One smoothie with spinach, banana, peach and almond butter, plus your choice of milk. There’s also smoothies with “blue” and “purple” ingredients like Spirulina, blueberries and blackberries. My favourite is called the Chocolate-Strawberry One with banana, strawberry, chocolate protein powder and turmeric—the perfect post-workout smoothie. I grabbed a few healthy groceries while I was there, then enjoyed my smoothie at an umbrella-covered picnic table outside.
Buzz isn’t your typical smoothie joint. In fact, the cafe chain may be better known for its sushi, burgers, bowls and Mexican fare. But don’t overlook their smoothies. You can order your favourite protein shake or Nutrifit smoothie at the counter or in advance online. My favourite was Banana Nuts, featuring banana, oatmeal, almonds, walnuts, peanut butter, protein powder and my choice of milk. You can also make your own with green ingredients, boosters or frozen yogurt. With so many refreshing options, you’ll need to see the menu to believe it.
Brew is a new eatery that’s quickly become popular among locals and visitors alike. It’s a great place for grab-and-go meals or quick bites—and, of course, smoothies! I recently had a seasonal carrot cake smoothie—it was like a delectable, healthy dessert in a cup. Go for the Purple Haze, Green Machine, Breakfast Lassi or Mango Matcha, all of which are on their regular menu, and add in your favourite milk, syrup shot or protein powder to make it your own.
