Gilbert Nature Reserve is located on Somerset Road near Somerset Village in Sandy’s. This wonderful 5 acres of forest area was acquired by the Bermuda National Trust in 1973. As you walk through the woodland trail, you can see old forest cedar trees at the north-eastern part of the reserve. The area is excellent for bird watching and there are paths from the reserve leading to the Bermuda Railway Trail. Springfield is adjacent to the reserve and was built around 1740s. Today it is used as the Somerset Community Centre. You can reach Gilbert Nature Reserve on bus route 7 or 8.
