Bermuda offers a wealth of beauty and tranquility, but if you’re looking for a special little corner to enjoy, we recommend Clarence Cove. This gorgeous area is formed by two fairly secluded little beaches that create an exquisitely sheltered setting around a part of the North Shore. The cove is peaceful, and swimming is safe here year-round. Here’s what you should know about Clarence Cove and what makes it a gem.

Unveiling the Charm of Clarence Cove

There are plenty of beautiful coves to explore, but Clarence has some qualities that make it special. It’s made up of a tranquil lagoon-like inlet, surrounded by two small, sandy beaches. Because the water is sheltered and calm, it’s an excellent spot for swimming, wading, and enjoying the cool water with young children.

This crystalline water hosts an array of marine life, making it the ideal spot for snorkeling. There are sea caves to explore, and you may even glimpse sea turtles. You can drift in the aquamarine water, taking in the vibrant colors of the ocean life near the rocky cliffs. Clarence Cove has a serene atmosphere, so it’s the perfect place to unwind, soak in the sun, and leave the chaos of daily life behind.

If you’re interested in exploring the history of the region, the nearby Admiralty House property has an intriguing past to check out. Come see the gravestone of Charles Francillion and learn about the British Admiralty who lived in the region during the 1800s.

Activities and Amenities at Clarence Cove

For families with young children, the spacious area to play and calm waters are unbeatable. Plenty of picnic tables are nearby, so you can spread out and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with your family or friends.

Rock climbing enthusiasts can try scaling the surrounding cliffs, but plenty of walking trails are nearby if you prefer a more sedate activity. You’re also welcome to explore the nearby beaches and see which one is your favorite.

Planning Your Visit to Clarence Cove

You’ll find this beautiful cove on the north shore of Bermuda in Pembroke Parish. To get there by bus, take the #4 bus route from Hamilton City to the Admiralty House entrance. It’s only a 10-minute ride, and then you simply take an easy walk on the trail down to the cove. If you want to take a scooter, the trip is only about two miles from Hamilton, making it an enjoyable drive.

Clarence Cove is a part of Admiralty House Park, so there are bathroom facilities you can use. However, you will want to bring food, drink, and beach essentials because you won’t find shops. Come prepared with sunscreen, swimsuits, beach towels, water shoes, and any toys you want.

Beyond the Beach

Admiralty House Park sprawls across 16 acres, so there is plenty to explore. When you’re done playing in the water, take some time to enjoy the walking trails, historical landmarks, and other beaches nearby. There are even tunnels and caves that a British Admiral dug that you can take a look at.

Although we love Clarence Cove’s tranquil beauty, it’s only one small part of what Bermuda has to offer. Be sure to take time to explore the other beaches, towns, and activities in this stunning part of the world. You’ll create memories to last a lifetime.
