A famous Muppet once said “It’s not easy being Green”, but Award Winning Rosedon Hotel begs to differ.

Infamous travel site TripAdvisor launched its innovative GreenLeader’s program in 2013, in hopes that tourists and vacationers alike will make eco friendly travel choices. The site, with global presence in the tourism industry, has raised the bar by setting a new standard of Green Practices.

This fairly recent initiative, with an extremely thorough and concise application process, has put the responsibility back on the applicants and business owners to ‘practice what they preach’ so to speak. To acquire any level of recognition, a variety of eco friendly criteria from recycling practices to solar power, organic meal options and LED light bulbs, must be evaluated, approved and rated.

To be acknowledged and awarded by TripAdvisor, which some may say is an ultimate reference for all things travel, is not something to take lightly. The iconic travel site recently accepted one of Bermuda’s own hotels into this prestigious company of GreenLeaders. The Rosedon, which is featured on their website with an identifiable ‘green leaf’ logo, has acquired the Silver Level; leaving Gold and Platinum Level in their sights.

The Rosedon, a uniquely Bermudian boutique hotel, was built in 1903 as a private home and opened as a guesthouse in 1950. It is the first hotel in Bermuda to receive the prestigious and coveted GreenLeader status, not to mention TripAdvisor’s 2015 Certificate of excellence, which awards accommodations that consistently earn excellent reviews.
