Bermuda’s spectacular Port Royal Golf Course will be the star of a new NBC Sports show called Global Golf Adventure. Golf broadcaster Mark Rolfing will host the program.
“I am happy to create a show that is long overdue for network television,” Mr. Rolfing said. “I am especially excited to showcase Bermuda. This will be my first visit but I’ve heard so many great things about the island from participants of the Grand Slam.”
Port Royal hosted the 2009 PGA Grand Slam of Golf and will host it again in October of this year. Last year Open Champion Stewart Cink played in the Grand Slam, he will be Mr. Rolfing’s celebrity interview guest for Global Golf Adventure. Premier of Bermuda and Minister of Tourism & Transport Dr. Ewart Brown, who orchestrated the redevelopment project at Port Royal, will also be interviewed on the program.
Director of Tourism Mr. William Griffith said, “We are delighted that NBC has chosen Bermuda and our newly renovated Port Royal Golf Course to film this new program. I am sure that we will see an increase in the number of golf vacations to Bermuda after the show airs.”
Port Royal reopened about a year ago after a comprehensive $15 million reconstruction project. It is now considered one of the finest public golf courses in the world.
NBC Sports shot Global Golf Adventure in Bermuda on March 27, the show will air on NBC May 8th, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. eastern time. Immediately after watching the program you can participate in our Port Royal - Fairmont Southampton Golf Giveaway Contest.
