Travel Documents - requirements since January 8, 2007
Visitors must have a return or onward ticket, or other proof on onward travel in order to enter Bermuda. One-way ticket holders could find themselves heading back from their origin before they ever leave the immigration area. A Driver’s license and birth certificate is NOT an acceptable proof of citizenship. Proof of citizenship and passport is also required of adults and children travelling alone or with their parents.
• US Visitors must present a valid, machine readable US passport. This includes infants and children.
• Canadian Visitors must present a valid, machine readable Canadian passport in effect since June 1, 2008.
• UK and Western Europeans must present a valid, machine readable passport of their country.
You will need to fill out two forms prior to entering Bermuda, an Immigration form and a Custom form for declaring anything products you are bringing in to Bermuda. Be aware that fruits and vegetables are not allowed in Bermuda and must be discarded before landing.

Children and Married Women using their Maiden Name
• Children travelling with an adult other than either of their parents must have the appropriate travel documents outlined above and a letter authorizing that adult has permission to accompany the child.
• Parents with adopted children should always carry the proper documents with them for their adopted children, especially if of another nationality.
• Married women travelling under their married name with a passport in their maiden name must carry their marriage certificate or certified copy as proof of identity.
How long can one stay in Bermuda?
The permitted length of stay is initially three months. Most travelers with a return ticket and place of accommodation while in Bermuda will not have trouble with Immigration officials. This said, Immigration does have the right to restrict your length of stay. An application can be made to extend your stay and must be done in person at Immigration Headquarters in Hamilton Monday through Friday from 9am to noon.
People wishing to work or reside in Bermuda for an indefinite period of time will not be permitted to land unless prior authorization has been given by Bermuda Immigration authorities.
